” Entry requirements:
7.By entering the contest, the entrant agrees that all photos and digital images entered become property of Full Record of Environment and will not be returned. The organizer is authorized to freely use the photos in business and publication. ”
this is against creative commons… the organizing body should not FREELY reuse the photos submitted for business & publication.
They can reuse for blogging about the winner or putting the image in the SOS web… but NOT reuse commercially without consulting the photographer… since the photographer owns full copyright to the material

Hi, Mervyn. Great thanks for your reminder.
We would reserve the right for the “By entering the contest, the entrant agrees that all photos and digital images entered become property of Full Record of Environment and will not be returned.” . For this, you could choose not to participate if you don’t agree with this rule.
And we will consider to put both digital and print photos into good use, but not in a commercial way. This rule will be amended once the working team comes to an agreement.

Theme of contest: …. photo must include people and local environment as background….
What if the background has only either people or local environment? Or must have both?

Hi, nature lover. Both of them is needed. Since this contest is about Malaysia, that’s why “people living on this land” is vital element.

hi , I just wonder why A5 is choose as a printing size because A5 is not the standard photo size like 3R,4R,5R and so on. A5 is a paper size. So i have to crop my pictures to A5 which is 148x210mm and ask them to print in 6R. So all my 3 pictures will have a white frame on the size because photo printer cannot print A5 the closest is 6R which is slightly bigger.
So my question is since you want the A5 148x210mm should i cut the white frame out or keep it in 6R photo size?

Hi Andy Chia,
You don’t need to cut the white frame out, since your “photo” part is already cropped and printed in A5 size. Anyway, we will consider these inconveniences and make improvements in [Faces of Malaysia 2010]. Thanks Andy!

I don’t like joining contest which we need to submit printed copies. It will be a wastage (for the environment) as photo which are not qualify will be thrown away….and here we are talking about environment!

Hi Forest. Thanks for your comment which we will take into consideration. The printed copies and CD copies will be put into different use, the former will be collected for the open exhibition, while the latter will be resources for publication (in magazine). We shall do our best to fully exploit all resources we receive.

photosynth, what does it mean by that?? brightness & contrast?? filtering??
the photo print will be 3 photos in one or 3 separate A5?
Last but not least, published in my own blog is it considered published in any media or publication??

Hi, hitomi.
1. photosynth: that means you cannot composite any two picture into one. But if you can adjust the brightness of the photo (for some might want to show the subject clearer.)
2. 3 photos should be print separately. That means you will hand in three A5 size photo prints.
3. It will be fine if your blog is not for commercial use, just for sharing; but you have to make sure the photos are your own creations.
Thanks for joining, and feel free to post here if you have other questions.
